Description

The 1st Brigade is the home of the Army’s combat power, equipped with the M1A1 Abrams Tank, Australian Light Armoured Vehicle (ASLAV) and the M113AS4 Armoured Fighting Vehicle. It operates the Army’s only heavy artillery, the M198 155mm Howitzer. The Brigade’s soldiers and their families are at the forefront of Australia’s operational commitments around the world. During 2010/11 around 1600 1st Brigade soldiers deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and East Timor.  This is the second pattern of the 1st Brigade patch.
